Long Hot Summer {El Dorado County Portrait Photographer}

Well, it’s not like I haven’t been doing anything all summer.  I have been busy. I just haven’t blogged anything.  Sigh…

Early in the summer, I was contacted by a magazine to do a photo shoot of some food and wineries around El Dorado County.  That was hecka fun and the assignment is slated to be in the October edition.  When it comes out and if my work is in the mag, I’ll let you know…(crosses fingers.)

I’ve also been working on my food photography for our other blog (We Call Him Yes!Chef!), which has been a lot of fun.  We got a little attention early into the life of the blog and now we have over 1,000 followers.  The blog is a little more folksy and is about the adventures of my husband’s cooking (he’s a really great cook!) and my photography.  It’s also a more personal blog.  Check it out, if you like.

In July, I took my youngest son with me on a photoshoot in Galt, CA.  About once a quarter, or so, I get together with great photographers in this area and some wonderful models to practice our crafts (photography and modeling.)

 

This photo shoot was in a great bar called Brewsters Bar and Grill. The light was great and the furniture and decor was 18th century.

There were also some very interesting and handsome male models there (including my son.)  I love to photograph men because I can use harsh or dark lighting with them whereas it’s a little more difficult to use the same type of lighting on women.

There were also a couple of ballet dancers and I took advantage of Pasha, the male ballet dancer, with the same kind of more dramatic lighting with him

And there were a couple of bars scenes set up that were kind of fun to do.

Then, last weekend I had the great pleasure of attending a shoot involving only dancers…ballet, ballroom, jazz, etc. I love dancers!  One of my favorite shows on television is “So You Think You Can Dance”.  (Or as my husband sometimes calls it, “Who Told You You Could Dance.”  Funny guy.)

And guess who I ran in to again?  Why, Pasha, of course. He had an idea of a shot he wanted so we worked on it and came up with this:

This shoot was in the old Elk’s Tower in Sacramento.  Love this place.  I’m still working on the photos from this shoot.  Next time I blog, I’ll throw a few more in the mix.
