Fall in the Sierras {El Dorado County and Lake Tahoe Portrait and Wedding Photographer}

We have been spending quite a bit of time in Lake Tahoe this fall.

I think the best time to be in Tahoe is in the fall.

The tourists have cleared out, for the most part and the fall color is splendid.  It cools off at night, but is usually fairly warm during the day.  There are many festivals, such as the Octoberfest and the Salmon Festival and the Renaissance Faire.

It’s also a great time to come for a visit at the Schmautz Haus.  My good friend, Margit, and her children visited for a weekend.  I love to take people around and show them the beauty of the area.

 

It was so good to welcome her to our cabin.  She was visiting from her home state of Wisconsin (where I met my husband.)

My husband,    my dog (Obie T. Dogg) and I went out several times on some road trips to do some leaf peeping (that’s what they call hunting for fall color in Vermont.)

And Obie saw an old friend.

I went out shooting (camera not gun) with my son’s significant other and caught some fall scenes.

As much as I love landscape, especially fall landscape, people photography is what captures my imagination.

  I cannot tell you how important it is to capture moments with people.

Fall colors will come and go and come again.  And, the pictures are beautiful to look at.  But the ones you will treasure are ones with people you care about at the heart of the photo.

These people are my heart.

The light isn’t particularly good and their faces are a little obscured because it’s so bright outside.  This photo will never win any prizes, but I will always treasure it.
